As much as I think the GOP is idiocy personified, I still have the tiniest flicker of hope that many Republican congressmen will still have some humanity to block it.

The nation elected a guy who promoted those ideas on his platform. And even though it's comforting to know that they'll never come to fruition through Congress, the fact that people who were, at best, apathetic to those ideas, voted for him. That's what scares me.
