There is a scientific basis for this idea (in the form of the “reliability bathtub curve”) — basically that past performance does predict future results, at least until it doesn’t. Put another way, an intact car with 280K miles is more likely to go another 20K without a major problem than a similar car with 150K.

Pit stops for refueling should be interesting. Set the sundial, Bob!

I didn’t even know this car existed. But I think it might be just what I’ve been looking for, with a 60-mile daily commute and an aging CX-9.

I guess you weren’t on this flight then

Traces of marijuana and face.

Perhaps, but a parody with a shopping cart and PayPal support.

Yep, the Tice clock (as advertised in the Stereophile back pages) used to be the go-to example of audiophile insanity. The rise of the internet has made it easy for anybody with a sparkly doo-dad, basic web skills, and a degree in psychology to play. Check out Brilliant Pebbles and the Blackbody Ambient Field

This is basically exactly how many audiophile miracle improvement products work. In fact, based on the wording of the “explanations”, I’d be shocked if this guy wasn’t also into, or at least aware of, high-end audio tweaks.

Xzibit?

Remember how annoying it was when assorted dog-whistlers insisted on spelling out “Barack Hussein Obama” in every post?

Well, the article does conclude by not concluding anything. So there’s that.

I want to say (based upon attempts to help somebody apply for a vanity plate) that 1s and Is (and Os and 0s and possibly Qs) are the same in the DMV database. That is, you can order G1NO or GIN0 but they are really the “same” plate under the covers, and if somebody has G1NO you can’t get GINO.

I’m assuming that the STRADA / SABBIA / NEVE / etc. switch on the left has something to do with coffee pods. Typical Italians; no DECAF setting.

Scenario likely exacerbated by the use of the word “pissant” which sounds a bit worse than it is. Of course, I’m assuming the host knew that.

Nice reporting here.

>Today, however, we have a number of traction enhancing options, like winter-specific tires (of which I am an evangelist champion) and tire chains.

Damn critics who have to be too cool for school, even on a list like this.
