I would love it if our future selves tried to warn our current selves about our impending doom and we all just kept marching right off the cliff because we're too enamored of irony for our own good.

Perhaps if he was so, uh, everything he says he now is, he shouldn't have told the kid's mom he didn't want to have anything to do with the situation, at the time it was actually relevant to say so.
