It's pretty simple, he doesn't want to deal with FB doing a total change of direction on Oculus, if they invested a bunch of time and money into it. Facebooks goal of course is to advertise to you while your viewing VR anyways.

They are batshit crazy, and the suit is great, because it makes them look like morons. Instead of just letting the Bird fade into the background, they keeping dragging it back into the news cycle.

I think as everyone gets older, they demand a little bit more from the story. Most of these games don't really do a good job in that area. I doubt anyone is playing the current FF games for their plot.
