Yeah, I say a lot of similar things to my students. I’ve probably got it a little easier than a male professor in these situations since I’m a woman. But I think that it’s pretty easy for professors of either gender to be clear that they’re engaging with their students in friendly but decidedly not flirty ways. Like…

I agree. He hasn’t done anything that crosses a line yet. I don’t think I’d go talk to him in private, though, for the same reasons you don’t advise going to the private study. A polite, but firm e-mail that says:
