I love electricity as much as the next guy but it’s important to note that the effective flow of electricity (the Fermi flow) through copper is 1570 km/s. Comparatively the speed in which light travels through fiber optic cable (silica glass) is ≈200,000/km’s.

This seems kind of shitty. What happened to this kid was totally wrong- but it’s mildly unsettling that he’s wearing that same(ish) NASA shirt in every photo OP. I think the kid should get a free academic ride and a place within the upper echelons of the American scientific community but going about it in this way…
