I agree that this isn’t a hill to die on. But I read his response out loud last night to a group of people visiting and you could have heard a pin drop. Stunned faces all around.
Not something to rage over in the bigger picture, sure, but worth discussing in the same way I’d discuss people making out at a funeral—like

Has it occurred to you that maybe the pain, fear, and frustration people feel is what causes them to get pissed at every little thing Trump does? Because he is a pure and unequivical sack of shit, and we are all being gaslighted by our own fucking government while his outrageous behavior is accepted and normalized.

We’re well-versed in your President already, don’t worry about that.

Therein lies your introduction to our current President. That about sums it up.

Manchester person here, ITA. I just posted a thing about the vigil in Albert Square at 6. x

I mean sure. If you want to double down on your support of an objectively horrible President just because PEOPLE CRITICIZED HIS TONE DEAF RESPONSE TO THE MURDER OF CHILDREN go right the fuck on.

To you and all Mancunians, our hearts go out to you. Please know that your American friends are truly that — friends, standing by you. I’m so sorry your city is going through this tragedy.

I honestly found that insulting. Here in Manchester, we’re all struggling to find the right words to talk about this, and him saying that seemed thoughtless.

The President’s mature and dignified response involved calling the perpetrators of the bombing “losers”. Because in the face of a tragedy, you always want to hear the leader of the free world using playground taunts.

So did Steven King! Which makes complaints about the movie particularly sketchy.

Stephen King preferred the movie’s ending to his book ending, so that makes perfect sense!

For me it’s not that there’s wicked naughty sex stuff, but that women are so often portrayed as sub-sapient, to the point they are literally presented as animals. The feminine ideal appears to be a child with a pituitary condition who has been dropped on her head (the middle one) too many times.

I’ve heard the parody argument before with regards to other anime, and it always come off as an excuse to get a free pass. Parodying a trope is a way to criticize it in some ways, but that criticism never amounts too much if the endless pervasive nature of fan-service never actually stops, and the parody just becomes

Love the movie! One of the better King adaptations. Think the ending is great. I had to sit quietly for a few minutes after my first watch.

wow, this is pretty smug. I’m a sex-loving do-as-thou-wilt Satanist and I’m repulsed by the tropey fan service thing that governs so much anime these days. you don’t have to be a prude to hate it.

Agree. What’s worse, I really liked the ending! *collective gasp of disgust*

I felt the movie was underrated. Come at me, bro
