Don’t know why you fixated on that — I was just trying to show that I’ve had firsthand experience with newer AND high-mileage BMWs and they're not nearly as unreliable as you suggest. Sorry you have an irrational hate thing going on.

I have an M235i with 12k miles and an E30 with 198k miles. My E46 is in between.
Gorgeous shots and awesome coverage Tyler (as always). I do wonder if this is more to send a message to/about China than really acting as a response to North Korea. I mean this is the same adversary that can barely field functional commercial airliners — a squadron of F16s could probably more than handle their entire…
I hate big SUVs and that era BUT man that diesel can pull — especially with a chip.
I have these on two of my BMWs and my dad’s Volvo has them too. Seems like they’re pretty widespread on higher-end cars. Hell, even my GTI Autobahn had them.
When will we see this “stock” engine as an actual stock car? May as well have been a bespoke racing engine for all the actual Mazda6 production with a diesel.
We would absolutely do this. Some evangelist/mega church preacher would fill in for the orthodox priest. It's not that hard to imagine...
I grew up with only coupes (manuals actually). I’m an only child which made it easier but it overall wasn't that bad. Ironically my dad has a sedan now...
Great article, but it’s spelled “Northrop” not “Northrup.”
I see Audi R8, FD RX-7, and Porsche! And I like it...
I have both. The 2 is definitely the closest thing to the E46 (a classic design) that they've made...
Compared to a 5 series BMW or E Class Mercedes. I’ve driven a 5 long-distance and I’d actually take the Volvo instead. More power than the 535i, better seats, and comparable noise isolation. It’s an incredibly comfortable and ergonomically-focused car. Have you ever driven one?
I have. It's still pretty luxurious. Quiet and controlled and fast.
I'm a huge BMW whore but I will buy this. God will I buy this.
You’d be amazed what the new M adaptive suspension can do. Mine in “comfort” does a passable luxury car impersonation.
It's firm but not harsh. Very controlled is more like it.
Have you driven/been in one? I'm a BMW guy but my dad bought one of these (lots of snow where he lives) and the interior is in 5 series/E Class territory easily. Might not come through in pictures but when you sit in it its pretty apparent.
This is an unlikely candidate but it should qualify. My dad has one in black and every time I'm in it amazed at the interior. The R-Design takes it up a notch. Awesome seats and incredible workmanship. A definite luxury car. It also seriously hustles with that polestar tune.
I’d add this. Better power-to-weight than that porky Taurus and a better interior to boot. Turbo six with Porsche and Polestar input gives you 350+ torque and 325+ horsepower. Great seats too!
I have a brand new BMW and two older ones that I bought used. I can afford either/both and don’t do it to “fool” anyone but because I like the cars and they have uses (ie 325i wagon as a daily because I love my M235i and live in a city)
