It's quite simply called judicial review and it's part of the system of checks and balances that is at the core of our democracy. The legislature proposes laws the executive enacts them and the courts test them.

    ^^this.

Why should some have to go down the difficult and expensive lawyer path while others can skip all of that? Look up the definition of equality and then write stupid posts.

Those are all OK but why choose it over a contemporary speed3/GTI/WRX? I can't think of a reason.

The HHR can burn in hell. Worst thing I've ever driven. Anyone who actually bought one literally must have passed over almost everything else.

Except it's the same target demographic. There's way more overlap between these buyers than with 911 buyers. The corvette's new performance edge doesn't help either.

Not to get this too far off topic (and bring up another thorny issue) but Ukraine has also asked us for help — and the government there is just about as unstable as that in Libya now. We seem to pick and choose pretty regularly where we "help" and where we don't. Same for Darfur. It's not that cut and dry.

Thanks! Really hated to get slammed for trying to say something nice about what our Navy is doing out there.

But who's $34 Million? It's petty to risk American lives for someone else's investment!

Completely agree. No sarcasm was intended at all and I'm upset that I must not have phrased that right.

I didn't mean that sarcastically. I really meant to applaud the work they're doing!

This is awesome and a great use for our resources. Glad to see us working on this.

Weigh the risks and rewards here. At risk are American lives and rewards are brownie points with Cyprus (not really a huge risk there) and a Libyan regime which seems like it won't be around for that much longer anyway.

What's morally repugnant to me is the chance of losing someone's life, not leaving internal fights in other countries up to the people running those countries.

I'll buy you a beer if (A) that regime in Libya is around in a year or (B) we ever need to call in a big favor from Cyprus.

I'm pretty far from am isolationist. There are certainly times when we should intervene. I think you and I agree on that.

Oh good. We have a favor coming from Cyprus...and a regime that probably won't be around I'm a year in Libya!

I'm fairly familiar with both the purposes and deployment of our military overseas. I have a degree in Political Science and spent a lot of my time in school writing about the military and foreign affairs.

It's not a wash. It likely cost millions. Also, this is hardly leading to the collapse of the world. Don't blow this out of proportion. It was a nice favor for someone that cost millions and risked lives.

No idea where your bullshit budget data comes from, but defense far outweighs welfare spending. A few other reasons why you're wrong:
