So, I’ve just made it through the utter travesty that is the comment section under the hand-wring-y article about how one chapter of the BMW CCA has (misguidedly) banned cars with driver aids from participating in track days. Needless to say, the opinions on this range from misguided to literal insanity.
I’ve stated this in various ways and at various times in various comments on the FP over the years. But since they have basically banned me (again) f0r not falling in with the crowd, I feel like it would be useful to post this here to see what people think. Of course, I also happen to think I’m right.
...will be hard to have as my partner in crime enters its third week in the shop. At this point, I don’t care about the cost, I just want it back. I badly need a 2-post lift, so I can be rid of dealing with dealerships forever.
I remember back in the day, one could go on the internet to learn about whatever they wanted, and escape the idiocy of conventional politics.
...what the hell are they talking about with that worthless waste of words on the FP? I mistakenly read that piece before watching it myself, and was expecting an utter disaster of an episode.
Cars certainly are a pain in the ass. They demand all your time, all your money, then ask for more. And that’s why I’ve gone and bought myself one of the most sensible, practical and reliable vehicles offered for sale in recent years.
Bow down or die before the king -
There’s not really much to say here, other than that I never want to see, drive, ride in, or be near one of these rolling tragedies ever again.
Imagine my surprise when I clicked over to an interesting piece on Jezebel, wrote a reply to someone whose viewpoint I agreed with...and found that I was an approved commenter over there. Any of you who have seen my posts probably would be as shocked as I was (and still am) about this.
I’ve been on a major SLR kick lately, seeing as they are some of the most un-appreciated cars ever built it seems. This has to be the most striking one I’ve ever seen. Needs the 722 headlights, taillights, and front CF splitter, some coilovers, and maybe some HREs. And some Renntech exhaust (-100 pounds and +40 hp).…
Well today has been a wonderful day so far. Guess they don't like me anymore.
So, it's rare that I can't figure out a problem, but this is just silly.
Just feast your eyes upon this piece of art - spec'd exactly as I would do it. Literally, I want to meet the first owner. He must be my long-lost twin.
The "official" stream on the site is beyond terrible, it's just amateur hour. Cable isn't an option for me right now, the lamp decided to blow an hour after the Brazil game on Thursday. Talk about great timing....
Don't mind me...just over here appreciating these under-appreciated machines.
I've only ever seen one manual 599 in my life, a couple years ago there was a Rosso Maranello (I think) example in at Lake Forest Sports Cars for service, and needless to say I nearly fell over when I saw the manual gear lever.
Because it's fucking great. Safety-focused, as most of them have been...but extremely well-produced, great production value, tons of great footage, lots of great interviews.
Sounds like he paid off a banker to push a deal to someone that kept him in power...can't really say I'm surprised.
