Well, GM sort of did this to themselves. For about 20 years, that’s exactly what the Corvette was. Still kind of is. It’s a great car now, but the image is still not there. And that wasn’t helped by the “you could tell where we cut the corners” C5 and C6 despite their solid driving dynamics.
