It was amazing. More than one of the best social satires I’ve seen in a minute, it was also just one of the best sci-fi comedies I’ve ever seen. It was like They Live through an Atlanta filter. The performances were pitch perfect and it has one of the most consistent and effective uses of tone ever. Plus, it looks

Ah, I see. That makes more sense.

As time has passed, I actually think it’s kind of cool that The Wire never got nominated for anything. It’s almost like the show was so realistic that it didn’t even read to the Academy as theatrical. Like they just thought that it was a sad reality show or something. And now it can stand forever as the prime example

Yeah, I’m no lawyer or anything, but calling famous gay people to the stand just to testify that they don’t know anything about this seems like a remarkably weak character defense.

Yeah, even if intelligence people do sometimes talk that way (and I’m in no way certain that they even do), they sure as shit shouldn’t do it in an actual movie. It’s confusing and goofy and way too winking-to-the-audience for my liking.

Good. I hope it scares the living shit out of everyone. People are entirely too comfortable living under the shadow of potential nuclear holocaust. We need reminders.

The “big moment” is clearly in reference to a scene where Oppenheimer gets a blowjob while straddling the atomic bomb.

I feel like I have a fragile handle on things that’s probably about the best that could be expected by an engaged non-physicist viewer. Short answer is basically yes. Following the film, he’s basically been working for and with him for years and they accomplish many missions in the future. The guy that we see in the

Less so now, but they were around a lot more in the 90's. Plus, I think the Goodyear blimp just kind of circled Atlanta all the time for a long time since we have a lot of airports for it to park overnight.

He should return to the role that earned him an Oscar and call it...

Semi-related story: My mother has always had a pathological fear of blimps. It actually turned her against the entire concept of therapy when, as a young woman, a psychologist tried to suggest that it had something to do with a generalized fear of penises likely stemming from childhood trauma. She rejected that

“Cilian Murphy is jaw-dropping in Oppenheimer!”

I think you’re kinda misreading that scene. It’s Bubs who is being wistful, thinking that he’s explaining to another admirer about how much better it was for the addicts. When Colvin asks him if it was a good thing, hoping for some validation for everything that he sacrificed, Bubs misreads it as judgement and gets

Random Kind of Hilarious and Weird Fact: at one point, she tried to reach out to Meryl Streep on twitter. Luckily, her state of mine was skewed to such a degree that she wasn’t able to detect the level of off-putting creepiness that would be conveyed by tweeting a one-line quote from “The Witch” asking Meryl Streep if

Glad he’s okay. He’s one of those character actors that I always perk up to see in things. I still have my dvds of the first and only season of “Invasion”, the great Wiliam Fitchner Everglades body snatcher show that ended way too early for reasons that never made sense.

Now playing

Man, he was one of my absolute favorites. Sometimes he would just pop up in these tiny little almost cameo roles and end up being one of the funniest things in the movie. Like in “America’s Sweethearts”.

I’m lowkey kinda hoping that this ends up being Tarantino’s first big post-”retirement” non-movie project; a 4-6 episode streaming miniseries finale/sequel to Kill Bill with Uma Thurmon and Maya Hawke trying to escape a seemingly unstoppable Zendaya wielding multiple Hatori Hanzo swords in a neon pink vinyl murder-suit

I hesitate to even remark upon this, as public stances on Weezer tend to date a person in a strangely unfavorable way, but I will say that I followed Matt Sharp away from Weezer a long time ago and have yet to find any reasonable cause to regret that decision.

At this point, I probably think of “Rose Red” first, but that’s just because I’ve seen it more and never, ever want to watch Boxing Helena again in this life. I recognize that it is a distinctive and challenging piece of art, but that does not obligate me to watch it twice.
