i actually just spent the last week driving 2k miles around texas in a brand new (rented) camry 4-cyl.

I bet we’d see fewer people do 100 mph than we currently see doing 80 mph.

Makes sense to me. Weren’t most speed limits set like 40 years ago? Your typical car from 1975 is scary as hell at 80mph. In today’s cars, you’ll exceed that without noticing if you aren’t careful on a straightaway. Plus, stopping power is better today as well.

I am a frequent bus traveler and one of my favorite memories is me sitting in a window seat and a woman getting on with two children. She and her young daughter took the two seats across the aisle from me and she put her young son next to me. I win, because I’m a big guy so an eight-year-old is my favorite bus

Yeah, I knew Torch would write a piece about this, and I’m glad he did. The press barely picked up on this here in Brazil, but this guy was one of our best designers and deserved more recognition. RIP.

Sorry, Jason. Great story, as always, but the Karmann Ghia is the best looking VW ever.

Just a small correct Jason. The first Brazilian type 3 had a very different front (I had one, a 1970, see pic). I think this is the original Piancastelli design because it is way more Ghia inspired than the later squared off front.

Marcio had been fighting for his health for some time (about 2 years) so may he rest in piece.
a little know fact is that when he came back from his internship he went to work at Willys-overland which was also selling Renaults under license (Alpine A108, Dauphini). Willis was a partner of Renault during the development

This. I postponed upgrading to 5 because of the ultra bright white backgrounds that suck my battery dry and make my eyes bleed even with brightness turned all the way down.

This makes the design guys at Porsche look like huge risk takers.

Isn’t that diesel exhaust still cleaner than the ambient NJ air?

The street racers didn’t kill her. Walking back to her car next to a highway at night killed her.

Disgusting.

Why would you want to take a Dodge Caliber on a joy ride?

They should be making beautiful cars like the Mk. IV Continental to compete with Cadillac and the rest of the world

Can a car company be American if it never made a car on American soil?
