Yeah. I have Aussie friends who watched it and they said it.. wasn’t very good. I’ll watch it but... not in a rush now.

I would argue that it’s pretty clear this would be a rights issue. Sony (and by extension, Marvel) would probably want a lot of money (and control) for a Spiderman appearance on another franchise. Given how poorly the non-Spiderman properties have been doing, it would take a lot more effort than I’m betting Kirkman is

I can’t quite pinpoint it, but something about this trailer feels... off. Especially since they just wrapped filming a few weeks ago and probably don’t have much in the way of special effects tied in yet.

Not really. He did bring some comic relief within the episodes of the various series he appeared on, but.... never seemed to permanently impact things (well, except for introducing the Borg.)

was wondering the same myself. The fact that I heard nothing about it suggests a lot though.

The Picard series was wildly uneven. There were some great moments and some real shitty moments. I was nostalgic seeing the TNG crew once more and seeing them on screen again after all these years. Ienjoyed watching the growth of Seven (and Raffi, it took a while for me like the character). No disrespect to the actor

I’d forgotten about their idea of a confederacy wins series, which sounds awful. I think that was right around the time when The Man in the High Castle was pretty popular, so I wonder if they were just being uncreative and trying to rip that off somehow.

Came here to say the same thing. Take your star!

Lazy writing.

I didn’t connect with Millie Gibson at all during the holiday special, and felt there was zero chemistry between the character and the Doctor.

Probably the best attitude to have. If I ever bother to watch their version.

Yep, the final season ruins the entire series for me.

I tried to read it and got about 20% in before giving up. I get it was a translation but the writing was very dry. Just not worth my time. Apparently there’s a separate Chinese TV adaptation that just dropped and is getting some good reviews.

... they’re also in no hurry to return—ever.

Agreed. Between how they styled him (greasy hair and all) and the super weird vibe between Twelfth Doctor and Clara Oswald, it didn’t work well for me. It was disappointing, really. Capaldi is a good actor, especially in other things, just not as Twelve. I think he was also let down by the writing, his monologues,

That’s the joke.

This is my inner literature nerd showing here: Maybe they can bring French writer and psychologist Jacques Lacan to the future and have him be the villain. Then there can be an over the top screaming montage of LA-CAAAAAAAAAAAAN!!!

So which actual Star Trek film will he copy & butcher next? First Contact? The Undiscovered Country? all of them?

I hated the Jack Crusher storyline of Picard Season 3. Mostly because I felt like the role was miscast. The actor had no real screen personality and a 40-something playing a 23 year old, things look really bad. (Okay: Ed Speleers is 35, but honestly, he looks 40+.) I can only wonder how he got the gig.

The actors were fine, their endless smiles were all about optimism, but I felt the story was.... flat. The Goblin Song was very David Bowie & The Labyrinth.
