You haven’t asked for quotes from various dealers then. Very new car I’ve bought in the last 10 years or so has started with inquiries to a few dealers with the exact model in their inventory I’m interested in asking for an itemized quote. If I send those to 5 dealers, 2 will not respond with more than please come in

It’s nothing like the original when this was first posted.

You get that from me not liking chrome wheels? Cool. Where do you see all these beat up old Camrys with black wheels? Can’t think of a single time I’ve ever seen that. All of my cars have the stock silver wheels they came with from the factory.
Since you jumped to that, I guess I can assume that you are the standard

I hate chrome wheels on anything. Love M Parallels, though. Nothing a trip to the shop and a nice refinishing can’t solve.

I’m the kind of idiot who would show up and buy the thing (albeit not at that price, but closer to $6500 seems realistic).

This is a great commuter, some day we will need those again. I have a 2nd gen and it’s amazing how seamless and normal it is in daily use. They’ve got great handling and acceleration and are cheap to drive.

Agreed. I’m 6’1” with a 29” inseam (so very tall torso) and I have probably 6” or headroom plus another 4-5 inches of seat travel. To top it off, I’m a rather robust gentleman at 330lb. Comfortable even over the 2400 mi in 4 days i drove it last summer, Great visibility and easy to park, plus my Autobahn will actually

I’m with you. I see nothing attractive in any Avanti. They are unique, like what it left in toilets.

It’s a licensed Fiat 127. I’d I whine the build quality is better on the Fiat, but that’s not saying much.

Ugliest version of one of the best looking cars ever? Still ugly. CP

I’m a serial GTI offender, MK4, 5, 7, and now 7.5. You could say that I love em.

When I was 6 and 7 my parents had one (81-82). We lived in upstate New York and naturally my sister and I sat in the back with our fighter pilot joystick handles. They put a bed cap on it and We had sleeping bags we would sit in while my parents would open the sliding rear window for heat.

I ran ot once, I was 16 and had been driving about 3 months. Luckily I was coasting down a hill with a gas station at the bottom.

I don’t debate that individuals who take the gamble and buy the CPO may come out ahead occasionally. What I debate is your seeming belief that these things are charity vs a profit for the manufacturers. Do you HONESTLY think that these programs would be offered at these prices if they paid out more than what they

Agreed. I sat In a new one at an auto show a couple years ago. I was really surprised that other than the paint color It was Identical to the Frontier I bought new In 2007 and sold In 2011.

Sorry, it doesn’t work that way. Either the true cost of that warranty was much higher and they built it into the price (most likely), or they have analyzed repair rates and they will pay out less than $1k on average over the time period. Car manufacturers and warranty companies aren’t in the business of losing money,

EVERYTHING about that story is insane.

When someone says “I bought a CPO”, what they are really saying is that they overpaid for a used car. Your car isn’t CPO. It’s used, and you paid an extra however much for a warranty. If the warranty would pay out more on average than what you paid for it, the price would have been higher. You would be better off

These things are ridiculous. My buddy has a 10k deposit on one since August 2019 and isn’t scheduled to to be delivered until the end of February. His contract is for a couple grand over sticker.

Wow. $118k in payments on something you don’t own at the end. Incredible. Even if we take out the Tesla that’s still $100k when you figure fees and money put down at inception. Pretty incredible depreciation.
