It was quite a hiatus but Beast Wars surpassed the original Transformers cartoon. For such early CG animation its still amazing to look at. Especially in seasons 2 and 3 it occasionally wrestled with more dramatic and serialized stories and emotional themes. Also who wouldn’t want to watch Ratrap bicker with Dinobot?…

But the films haven’t made a point to emphasize Charles’s baldness as a character feature. Bald or not, aside from one or two throwaway gags it hasn’t mattered to his character. Mystique showing off her blue, scaly skin, being unafraid to hide among her fellow mutants has been a major character development point.
I hope that’s the case.
I understand the motivation to show Jennifer Lawrence when she isn’t covered in blue paint. I’m sure the studio wants to take advantage of audience facial recognition and she doesn’t want to spend hours in a makeup chair.
That said, its disappointing character wise because the films at least have built this idea that…
