At least it’s the engine that’s making the noise, unlike today’s BMW’s. BMW would have mounted external speakers and played recorded sounds upon depressing the start button.

Depends on which car I’m driving. If it’s our old beat-up MDX, then I’ll park wherever. If it’s one of our nicer cars, I’ll park away from the other cars, because most people don’t car about theirs and will happily give you a door ding.
Apple does not fall far from the tree.
No, it’s actually a reference to the reputation that Mercedes had about electronics that failed for no good reason. For example, if you buy a car with electronic adjustable suspension, you will pay through the nose when it needs to be repaired or replaced. You could also get great mechanical suspension that won’t. …
Based on my very limited understanding, the Honda Prelude used mechanical linkages for the rear wheel steering. By contrast, I’m guessing that this car uses the same set-up as the AMG GT R, which uses steering actuators and electronic controls. But Comtndrvr is right, Mercedes electronics never fail:
It’s true. I don’t buy Mercedes for various reasons.
Rear wheel steering? Yet another thing that can go wrong and cost thousands to repair. Looks a bit like the melted jelly bean Ford Taurus to me.
THAT is an upgrade, my friend. Roads are not too bad as I try not to take my car into the city.
my lord, zero - what are you driving??
Agreed. My OEM’s are 20" and the tires are basically rubber bands. I worry all the time about hitting potholes. I just picked up a set of 19" for my winter tires, and I’m driving this winter with a sigh of relief. Who would have ever thought that we would get to the point where someone was thankful for the additional…
Yes. Basically. I used to drive a GTI and I loved it. But by our second kid, I needed a bigger car. Then we had our third kid. Game over. Maybe a GTI R is in my future when all of the kids are out of the house, but for now, someone like me needs a bigger car, which is why i drive a station wagon.
I am delighted that Audi is bringing this to our shores. At the very least, it brings us another choice of wagon instead of yet another CUV/SUV! It cannot hurt that we have another wagon, especially after VW stopped selling theirs.
Interesting reference. I read the article, and it explains that primer grey was used to increase contrast and visibility of detail when the only available photography was black and white. But that paint was abandoned with the advent of colour photography, which brings us back to my question. Does anyone actually…
Looking at the 530e, I know that you said that there’s a bit of green in the paint. But for the life of me, I can’t understand the recent trend of primer gray as a colour choice for cars. Maybe you or someone else on this forum can explain why anyone buys a primer gray car.
My apologies, Doctor Professor. I guess I was misinformed: https://www.hotcars.com/what-the-fast-furious-movies-look-like-without-cgi/ But fanbois like you also think that iron man is for reals too. Hard to argue.
Fast and Furious would be Exhibit A for overuse of CGI.
I posted something similar. Also, Furiosa is such a no holds barred, no excuses bada--.
It’s nostalgia for action sequences that involve actual physical things, like cars, trucks, people on poles, and people jumping from car to car. The Marvel movies lack any real urgency or peril as it’s all CGI. Perhaps that’s good enough for the millenials as that’s all they’ve known. But there is a real tactile…
Damned if you do, damned if you don’t. Every six months or so, there’s an opinion piece in every automotive publication that urges manufacturers to take advantage of the freedom that electric power gives to designers. Tesla does that and boom -- people complain that the design is too divergent from the norm.
So you and Erin are saying the same thing. In the rain, you can’t do anything aggressive with such a high HP car. But the entire point of the Hellcat (and Demon) is to be stupid with the right foot. Bottom line is that she can only report what she experienced.
