You can turn off those ads on the Playstation 3, it's under system settings "Show What's New on Startup"

As an IT consultant who deals with a LOT of computer illiterate people...forget aaaaalll the other advice. Just set it up how they want it and install DEEP FREEZE. And everytime the computer reboots it goes back to the way it was when you set it up. Problem solved.
