Gender Studies 101 is good and helpful.
What if we just don’t have sports at college and college students just read books and stuff?
I’m not asking about you. Don’t be so defensive and rude. Just answer the simple question. At what time in history were minstrel shows no longer a common occurence in your rural Minnesota home town? Were there minstrel shows in the 70's, or 80's? I’m willing to bet there were some in the 50's. Let’s find out the real…
What’s the history of the “Dance eMote” economy? Feels like an interesting story of an industry finding a way to maximize profit from other people’s creative product while staying within the legal loopholes to avoid paying creators. What other obviously recognizable creative acts can sneak through the cracks like this…
The war between Capital and Labor goes back a lot longer than 40 years. It’s important to keep the broad history of capitalism and the labor movement in mind in order to make sense of what can seem like random acts of cruelty and injustice.
Nope. Knowing the rules and patterns of crossword clues is way more important. You always see novice puzzlers wasting time on vague “word association” type tangents with clues when if they knew that they were looking for a plural noun or a gerund or a first name or a pun, the answer would be obvious. If the taboo was such a coastal elite underground secret, surely there must have been some coon-show hoedowns at the barn where your simple town folk enjoyed some traditional American entertainment, no? When do you think the last…
Sports History is a great idea. “History” is usually just the history of politics/war. Cultural history is a great framework to hang things on and gets closer to the lived experience of normal people in the past. It’s as good a framework as “Art History”.
There must be video game companies set up as worker co-ops or union shops, no? Why can’t I think of any off the top of my head? Would definitely buy whatever they’re selling even if it’s shit as a pseudo-political contribution. Some indie devs should do it just for the free promo.
Getting laid off as union member is almost always a much better experience than getting laid off as a non-union member.
Reiterating:
“At some point, it became widely known that that blackface was offensive”
Racism is common and ubiquitous. It is not rare and exotic.
