4th Gear:

I’ve got an F30 335i and it’s really finnicky - you have to shift at the right speed, 1 and second are useless after 15mph but 3rd is geared too tall. I’ve never driven an older car but would love something from the 80s/90s for the reasons you described - they seem alot easier to drive

The thing I take away from these is how quickly they shift. I take my time to ensure a smooth shift, try and rev match in traffic, etc. But these guys just know exactly when to shift and do it. I need to get an older, slower car to practice clutch control at legal speeds

I agree with your assessment. Region to region would be a meaningful change

this is all to appease people who don’t give a damn about F1 in the first place. How in the fuck do they suggest shipping cars between cities? Sail? Get a grip. This is a well laid out marketing deck for fools naive enough to believe any of their changes will have a meaningful impact

Of all the offenses, the dillution of the hoffmesiter kink is the saddest. It keeps easing into just a straight shoulder line. Smdh

My family moved from Ukraine to the US in 1996 when I was two, so I grew up eating a mix of Russian, Ukrainian and Jewish food. About 3 years into college, I realized the biggest hankering I had was smoked fish. Now, I’m lucky enough to go home twice a month and I’m always greeted with an assortment of smoked herring,

Nice looking snail you’ve got there

So it’s a Nintendo DS that can make calls. Nice

Depends on where I am - the most reliable car will be the one that is decently common in your locale, so you can scavenge spare parts as you trawl the wasteland. Assuming I am in North America, I would do a 4Runner or older F150 with an N/A engine - both sold in large numbers so parts will be comparatively easy to

A couple years late, but finally proof that major OEMs can build a Model S rival just as compelling in style, execution and performance. Hopefully the Tesla douchenozzles can stop shitting on the auto industry now

Could you dig up any more links to his most famous photos? It’d be nice to see the man’s work!

Usually the phrase “band aid solution” isn’t taken so literally

I sent this to my very Wisconsinite roommate - awaiting stark judgement or encouragement. Either way, my stomach is gurgling, nice writeup. I’ll see you on the Ohio I94 Westbound feeder ramp this Saturday morning

God this is so satisfying. So nice to second screen at work. Thanks for the perfect Monday afternoon escape

If I lived 10 miles from work, I’d get a pure EV. I don’t get the plug-in hybrids unless they specifically enhance performance. I think this car would be a good compromise if it made more power than a 330i while offering comparable or better economy, instead of offering the same power while offering better economy.

Okay so let me get this straight - they took a detuned 2 liter turbo, added a few hundred extra pounds, and then came up with a system output 3 horsepower more than the conventional 330i, for about a 10%-15% price premium. Nice.

I look forward to a new form of diarrhea from Sodexo! Soylent Green, we come ever closer and closer

My (cursory) guess is most of the noise pollution comes from diesel trucks. Though I understand this comes from a position of privilege, it’s so asinine to limit exhaust sound. A few seconds of strong acceleration in an M5 is not what is causing significant noise pollution in city centers. Just more government doing

I think that’s the jist too, but it’s an awful argument. We shouldn’t fear improvement because it might displace people - we should talk about how to make home ownership affordable while prices are low, and then improve infrastructure. That way, people who live there have equity in the improvements. It’s the whole
