I honestly don't understand why soooo many high-profile celebrities who don't even need the publicity work with him. He's fucking disgusting.

Yes he does. His thumbnails have lasers on them which he projects into his victim's, I mean friend's eyes to hypnotize them. That's a reasonable explanation for getting so many talented and non-creepy people to be photographed with/by him right?

Ewww, this is my fucking nightmare.

I thought it was wine? You know the movie/tv scene: people at a bar. the guys are totally cool and relaxed bros drinking some brewskis and the women are wearing business suits drinking a glass of red. Also if you've ever heard one of those stupid bevmo commercials, you know the stereotype isn't just on tv. It goes

Oh god she is so beautiful. I know people hate this term, but she is one of my "girl crushes".

I don't particularly like the song myself, but I really don't think the intention behind it is to say "hey gays, I think you're cool so you should feel okay". I think Macklemore is just rapping about his personal experience. Your comment was well thought out, thank you.

Yea, I get the sense that does posses a healthy level of self-awareness. This song is what I like to call, a "non-issue".

Mhm. And let's not even get started on the mess that is Hugo Schwyzer writing for Jezebel.

Tommy boy! My newest celeb crush, introduced to me by some lovely Jezzies. Do like.

Good point and no, I don't think the battle is won. Not sure where you got that from.

Definitely not a cat person, but I can't deny that's cute.

Right? Is there an abundance of white, straight males supporting LGBT causes that I am completely unaware of?

It's also kind of hilarious that Jezebel is criticizing a white, straight, male for "speaking for" LGBT minorities, when that is exactly what this website attempts to do (and many times fails) in regards to women's issues.

I honestly don't understand the criticism. It's like "Hey Macklemore, you're not gay or black so back off." When in reality he should be praised for supporting a cause that is still ridiculed in rap. Of course he's not the first rapper to do so, and he wont be the last but that doesn't make his effort any less valid.

I don't know. Honestly, I haven't seen or heard this type of criticism outside of Jezebel. I totally agree about the importance of majority allies.

Yes! I edited to add that human rights are not a zero-sum game. We can all work together.

But why? He's never experienced the world as a gay man. If he were trying to tell someone else's story as his own wouldn't that be disingenuous? I think the song is just fine. It raises awareness about LGBT issues without claiming it as his own personal issue. Also the chorus of the song gives a voice to lesbian and

The song starts with the lyrics "When I was in the third grade I thought that I was gay" and goes on to tell his story and perception of "gayness". So I don't think Macklemore was attempting to make a "gay anthem" or speak for the LGBT community. The fact that the song became a hit and resonated with people speaks to

Thank you for recognizing my talents good sir/madame.

Haha, I meant discreet. I made a fool of myself on the internet :(
