So much of this pisses me off, but as a New Orleanian who voted in the midterms, what might piss me off the most is that Leon Cannizzaro ran unopposed. Shit like this is not getting investigated or tried and no one will even challenge our shitty DA?

^This.
I mean, great for your kids for understanding the flexibility of numbers, but I teach 11th grade math and my students don't get it. They've never been taught the fluidity of math or the interconnectedness of topics so by the time they get to me all they have is a bunch of disconnected steps that they're trying to…
Oh my god class sizes.
We learn it from Steel Magnolias.
Kara, can I get a judgement?
I had a really horrible moment like that the other day. I'm white, and I was helping a friend get dressed by tying on his cape (he's black) and he said "make it tighter" and I went "Want me to choke you like a little noose?" and I literally meant nothing- just for a minute I forgot all of the horror of racial history…
This. It's so easy for issues like this to dissolve into oppression Olympics and that doesn't help anyone.
I've come to the conclusion that if one person begins a marriage/relationship by cheating, then the other can't really be surprised if the cycle repeats itself.
+1 for a Clueless reference.
This was a huge thing when Margaret Thatcher died. How do you reconcile WHAT she was (the first female prime minister) with WHO she was (a politician who actively dismantled social programs and effectively forced a large portion of her country needlessly into poverty)?
I actually don't have a huge problem with Woody Allen's supporters. I believe that he's a predator, and I refuse to watch his films, but in the end, the allegations are just that- allegations. He's never been tried or convicted, which makes it a little easier to support him.
Well done, you!
I'm sure she would. She was a White House intern- that's a high-pressure, hard-to-get job that is leading to something- she probably had big plans for what she wanted to do that didn't include getting famous for blowing her boss.
I didn't click over to the link, but here's a genuine question: Where were THE FUCKING COPS? If you come break up a domestic dispute and the victim decides to leave that night, shouldn't they fucking stay there and make sure she can get her shit and leave?
I loved her response to not talking about abortion- it was basically "Um, abortion's not funny. Why would I do an episode about something unfunny?"
I was just coming down to say that. It's a huge difference addressing something in a comedy than addressing it in a drama. I heard an interview with Mindy where someone asked her why her show hadn't addressed abortion when it's set at an OBGYN and she just flat-out said "Abortion's not funny."
High summer and a boy in a seersucker suit? YES PLEASE.
I literally just came down to the comments to say that anyone who doesn't like Legend of Korra can just fuck right off. The Avatar shows are fucking brilliant.
