Wait… is the show racist or not? They made one of the movie's Asian characters white, but then one of the white characters is Asian. Is it white-washing? Is it out of control political correctness? Or do they cancel each other out?

"…it is one of those shows that parents both won’t mind their kids watching and won’t mind watching with their kids."

The problem with any adaptation of the movie is that no one is Jack Black but Jack Black. And he very much plays a version of himself in that movie. His energy and personality makes the whole thing work.

There are so many adaptations in which the producers have decided that the original is really silly and stupid and the only way we can adapt it is to mock it. As if they are embarrassed to be making the movie. I didn't see much of Mystery Incorporated, but it sounds like a good example of how these kind of adaptations

M. Night seemed to say, "Yeah, that show is pretty good, but what if we drained all the life out of it?"

I read the novel version of the The Hunt For Red October years after I saw the movie. The movie is one of my absolute favorites. But one thing the book does a much better job of showing you that the entire US and Russian navies are much more on edge and close to actual war as they search for the sub. The only place

I was going to give her the benefit of the doubt at first, thinking that maybe this new character will show more range for her. Then the trailer ends with her screaming and yelling. Loud ain't funny.

I didn't see her character as racist. I just think her entire humor is "loud and angry," and I find that obnoxious.

I kind of like Spy. Just saying.

This may not be all that relevant here, but I continue to be impressed by the treatment of a gay character on Brooklyn Nine-Nine. Now, no, we're probably not get a lot of Andre Braugher's Captain Holt in some sexual situations, but the show isn't always that focused on that anyway. It's most impressive to me because

People just can't help discuss the beauty that is Rob Lowe.

It's not really a comedy. That over-used term "dramedy" is more like it. It's a very different show, with stories that don't remind me of anything else. I do wonder if a TV network's insistence on having to label the show could be part of the problem. The NBC promos - even their music - insist this is a wacky comedy,

I was gonna say that.

He may have been one of the better aspects of the movie. Though I can't be sure. All I recall about it was stopping on the channel when flipping past the movie to see Erika Eleniak, then moving on when they cut to some other scene.

I suppose if I was told by a director that I had to kiss Gillian Anderson but pretend I was "uncertain" I'd have some difficulty. Now, can someone tell me if Anderson was excited about the scene as well? And tell me slowly…

It's funny though, that no matter how progressive a show is about sexuality of characters, we know there's gonna be a large segment of guys that just like seeing some hot ladies making out. It's like the best of both worlds!

I still hate the use of "queer" as some kind of official, acceptable term. I guess the LGBT community has kind of embraced the term, but it's weird to see it used like that.

Some would argue that wishing to get control of illegal immigration is not the same thing as being a racist. I don't think it is, either. Though I still think Trump is an obnoxious asshole who is probably going to force me to vote for Hillary.

The problem is, the people who support him and are racists won't be scared away. And the people who support him and ARE NOT racists are not gonna be swayed but some TV show suggesting they're associated with racists.

I was just trying to say we know Hollywood isn't gonna be on the side of a conservative / Republican kinda guy. I suppose Thomas isn't exactly the best example to use…
