Yeah, the thing about what you said is that.... I haven’t done any of those things. I’ve responded at length and in depth (repeatedly) about what point I’m making. Do you mean that I’m pointing out that gross and persistent inequity in our society along racial and class lines is undeniable? Are you denying it? Is that

well, there is that. Also some war crimes, insufficient action from his justice department against corporate wrongdoers in the aftermath of the recession (and in general), being bad on transparency after promising otherwise, imprisoning journalists, and other stuff I’m sure I’m forgetting.

You’ll have to point out where I said they were racist.

Isn’t it remarkable how almost all of the conservatives that seem to despise Obama seem to do it for reasons that make no sense or aren’t based in fact? There are plenty of good criticisms of Obama from a progressive standpoint, but you almost never hear that... mostly just racist nonsense.

Which black player didn’t take part? What local news tweets are you referring to? What I’m referring to is that every player I’ve seen pointed out as not taking part is not black and I couldn’t see any black players standing. If you have other information, feel free to share it.

Thanks for chipping in. Your lack of a discernible opinion on this issue has also been noted, as well as your assumption that I will probably take issue with your lukewarm non-take. I don’t understand what issue you have with me. I have a strong opinion, I believe it to be right, and I’m defending it in detail when

For one thing, I never said that they were racist, I called them morons. I think that it speaks quite clearly to the way they see the world that they would feel that standing for the anthem, for the flag, for the troops, for the fans, for whatever symbolic reason they have in mind is more important than showing

That would be an example of an opinion that is a lot more reasonable in my eyes. You’re free to think whatever you want. Note that unlike the other side, I’m not saying that the players I disagree with are unAmerican, or should be fired from their jobs to satisfy my desire for patriotism or dissent or anything like

If you say so. I’m not saying that they should be forced to do anything. I’m saying that in my opinion, that’s what a socially conscious person should/would do in this instance.

No, that’s not my criticism, or really anybody else’s. Symbols do have meaning, the confederate flag for example, that has a very particular meaning even though Southern people won’t admit it or engage with it critically. I think most Americans actually pretty much agrees what the American flag symbolizes too

Thank you. I’ve been pretty even-keeled about it because it’s important.

I didn’t say any of that. What I said, very clearly by the way, was that they obviously felt that symbolically venerating America (a free and just America that doesn’t exist) is more important than showing solidarity with oppressed people protesting injustice. That injustice is pervasive and far beneath what America

Not sure what you’re getting at... it is beyond obvious he was referring to the players with his tone-deaf idiom.

Yes, you’re showing that you’re pretty comfortable telling me what to do.

Thanks for letting me know how dumb I sound. That kind of “patriotism” is chauvinism and we should be doing less of it as a country. They shouldn’t even be playing the fucking national anthem, it’s a domestic competition. It has nothing to do with the military, for that matter.

You seem pretty predisposed to feeling outrage, although I’m not telling you to. I said they were stupid because that’s what I think the evidence indicates. You can think whatever you want, so

It’s good to know that the fans and media are the only ones that can possibly keep the team from wrecking this guy.

It seems that you’re one of those people that’s more concerned with the right of the players to demonstrate/not demonstrate than what they’re conveying to the country, its social importance, and the injustices that underpin the whole thing.

No, the right side of the episode is that there’s a totally legitimate movement about injustice against blacks by the police and the justice system. I’m not dictating anything, I’m saying that I think the ones that are choosing not to take part, particularly in this instance, are stupid. If you think that “honoring

They don’t have to kneel, and I never said they did, lol. I personally think it’s shitty/moronic of them to choose not to in light of the fact that every black guy on the team is doing it and it’s a completely legitimate and meaningful protest! Now, you can not so kindly get fucked and I recommend being better at
