I've never been a fan, but the role suits his sensibilities perfectly.

I LOVE Arrival, but I'd put a fair few movies above it this year. Including The Nice Guys and The Witch, as well as the ones already mentioned.

Not gonna get to see this until mid-Jan at least as I'm in the UK :(

they got it right two years in a row? NICE.

This is an awesome list, although mine would probably be stuffed with far more House of Balloons (I think Loft Music - at least the first half - is still my favourite Weeknd song). And the only Kiss Land that would make it on would be the title track.

I liked this finale, and I got what it was going for, but in the end I found that it just made a lot of episodes based around things that didn't turn out to matter at all feel like kind of a waste of time? Maybe I should have been putting less of an emphasis on the mystery side of the show.

I would say it pretty much demands at least one rewatch, if not more.

The popper Abel's music gets, the less fitting these ultra-arty visuals are. I have no idea what he expects people to think he's saying here - it feels essentially worthless.

this show is so good

Man….I think I kinda hate both the lead characters in this show.

I'll bite: what's the show?

oh, he meant Harmon's RAPIST comments

Very glad to see these reviews will continue. It's nice to see y'all listening to readers about popular reviews with this and Transparent. Really hope the next season has a more consistent schedule so we don't run the risk of losing them again.

"she’s really going to volunteer to spend time at pseudo-Burning Man with this woman?"

I went into this movie knowing very little about it except for the cast and that it was somehow two films in one, and I absolutely adored it. It shook me in ways I really didn't expect, and I thought it was extremely emotive and powerful, especially after the main 'reveal'. I've found it absolutely bizarre to read

totally agreed. i understand ford's intentions with the opening, but it just doesn't work at all.

The last two!

I would agree with this, and I also think her prose improved a lot, especially from Half-Blood Prince onwards.

The gurney moment mentioned in the opening paragraph is the exact moment I mention to people as the perfect example of how Lonergan seems to capture these incredibly small, human, simultaneously tragic and comic moments absolutely perfectly. Great review for a truly excellent movie.

I guess I just assumed the show was trying to say it was inherently unfair and that this was a flaw in a lot of black women's thought processes. It really never came across to me like we were meant to be sympathetic towards Molly.
