Very excited for Overwatch. It's the first game by Blizzard I've ever had the mildest amount of interest in (basically the first game they've ever made in a genre I don't find tiresome) and the beta was soooooooo fun. Hopefully a new standard for fun casual online shooters.
I kind of like that they're not bothering to try and hide that this is just an excuse to make a bunch of brand deals. And by 'kind of like', I mean 'I'm going to go live in the woods for a month when this comes out'.
Really glad they've gone back to 20 eps a year. The last season really seemed to be buckling under the strain.
It's "important"? I thought this was AV Club, not tumblr in 2013.
One thing I noticed was that the sign said "Waitress Wanted" despite the job only ever being referred to as a bartender before (and even maybe in their conversation?)
This is great timing because I only recently got into Clowes after only really knowing Ghost World for the past few years. Wilson is incredible, and I was just last night given a copy of David Boring to borrow. Hopefully the local stores get it in soon.
I'm from Britain where our newspapers are total dogshit with no integrity whatsoever, so while I understood his point it didn't land with me at all.
While I still made a point of watching this show as soon as I possibly could every week, I think I was beginning to get too used to its rhythms and style to feel I could still get truly bowled over by it. This episode just totally uprooted that. Easily the best since the third one, and probably my favourite since the…
Simple Things is probably my favourite credits song they've ever had, as well as one of my favourite Miguel songs ever.
Yi Yi is one of the best 'slow' movies of all time, IMO. Am excited to finally give this one a watch with the new release.
I feel like the final scene of the movie is meant to serve as a mildly uplifting coda. Although Michael is broken and will always be broken, Lisa has, as you said sort of, managed to come out of the situation with a positive view of things (at least she's focusing on the good that came from the fleeting time together…
Oh, I don't agree with this at all! Well, definitely not the first paragraph. The portrayal of Fisk as this half-autistic awkward loser was one of the most unique and fascinating things about season 1, and D'Onofrio crushed it.
So am I in the minority to think this four-episode run alone was miles better than season 1, or is Caroline being too critical? Because imo immediately almost everything is far better, especially the writing. The monologue in this episode is, despite maybe one clunky cliched line, impeccably-written and performed.…
Punisher? I hardly know 'er!
Ha yeah that's why I expressed it in terms of general sadness rather than trying to blame you. I did consider reading the two issues that are out and finding out it's apparently been delayed makes me want to even more
Having never read any of Silver Age and it being my most anticipated comic by far I sure wish I hadn't read this comment
The AV Club has a serious heading problem
Anyone else find this episode really Zelda-esque aesthetically? The use of woodwind instruments plus all the forest imagery and forest spirit really put me in mind of Zelda, as did the designs for Huntress Wizard (although I know that design's been around for years) and the Thunderboar.
Why?
