Wipers can be activated from the stalk, they will also activate automatically because there’s a rain sensor. It’s only the wiper speed (that is also managed by the sensor) that is on the touch screen. Guy wanted to override the speed.
It kind of depends on how many road trips you take. In the time I had my Tesla Model 3, I went on five road trips. Yeah, I spent more time charging, but other than a couple of stops it wasn’t hugely inconvenient. If I went on road trips every month or even every other month it might be a different story.
