If you want to read the “classics” I would recommend the Fantastic Four and Spider-Man Masterworks. The FF Masterworks #1-10 ($3.40 a pop) features the entire Jack Kirby run of the character and introduces not only the FF, but also Dr. Doom, Galactus, the Silver Surfer, the Inhumans, etc. etc.

This is just all too typical of Hollywood movie-making. You can’t “just” adapt something, you have to put your unique spin on it.

My mom threw away original (Herge drawn) TinTin drawings.

An interesting bit of trivia: I suspect Paul Newman owes much of his career, at least at the beginning, to Mr. Dean’s death. The two films James Dean was slated to star in but, obviously could not because of his tragic death, were The Left Handed Gun (a film about Billy the Kid) and Someone Up There Likes Me (Boxer

Has Disney simply bitten off more than they could chew?

To draw a parallel, Roman Polanski hasn’t raped any teenagers in decades and decades, has apologized for it countless times, been absolved by his victim, but at Jezebel, he’s the antichrist. Fine. But Gibson shouldn’t get a pass even if he’s apologized and been clean for years.

Fun fact: In Videodrome all the tapes are actually Betamax, because they fit better in a stomach prosthetic than VHS!

Can’t do it. Sarandon, Gibson, that asshole from Seinfeld have joined the pantheon of people who I won’t support with my money, time, or clicks.

Against All Odds is a screamingly bad reimagining of Out of the Past. The only thing that saved it for me was a very young and sexy Jeff Bridges.

While he’s cool in Videodrome I’d say that’s more of it being a brilliant movie.

But there are just far too many that are sketchy as fuck, they cross that one ethical barrier that can’t be ignored.

I’m making the conscious choice to not really read much about her or seek out interviews.

I detest James Woods.

That particular line killed and I’ll gladly admit it.

Truthfully I don’t recall that particular scene, but please don’t judge me too harshly...I’ve tried to forget the other two films as best as I could!

The first one was a decent “B” actioner...the other two and especially the horrible-terrible-no-good third one...I don’t think so.

If there’s one thing to be optimistic about (very hard to do given the darkness about to descend upon the world), its that at least in my dealings with them (which, granted, is anecdotal) the younger generation hates, hates, hates Republicans.

I suspect it will be a while before I trade mine in. I just love looking at her each morning when I’m on my way out the door.

Not to brag (as he’s just about to do that), but while I like the rear-redesign of the newer Mustangs, I’m not a big fan of the way they’re slowly ridding the classic retro look of the front. And (as the aforementioned bragging starts) I’m glad I picked up what turned out to be among the last models (2014) which
