I can see how someone might not get into it, but for me, growing up in the Midwest, it really hit close to home (pardon the pun). Being able to reminisce about the brutal winters and reading the names of familiar places give the book a special place in my collection.

I always recommend starting with Neverwhere as a stylistic prequel because it’s less dense. Also, it goes off the rails into other-realmy stuff a little more gradually and makes the sudden appearance of zombies and deities in American Gods a little less jarring.

I sorta agree but ultimately felt the film never quite put it all together and suffered from being sooooo out there.
This list is way too artsy. And I’m an artist. Mad Max was the only one I’ve enjoyed (really enjoyed) watching out of that list.
Now that’s entertainment.
It’s a sport that, for me, is becoming harder and harder to “enjoy” because of this exactly. With each passing year, we are understanding more and more about what happens to these players’ bodies and...it is downright scary in some cases what becomes of them, both mentally and physically.
