Isn’t this what they drive in Thneedville?

About 15 years ago, I was valeting part time in college. One day an old Rolls-Royce pulls up. If I had to guess, it was an early ‘80s or late ‘70s model. We let them park it themselves, right up front.

They might not make a fortune off you, but so long as you were quick and easy to deal with, they probably still liked you. I’ve had clients I’ve made all of $4 off of (Not hyperbole or a typo) that I still liked, because they were polite and honest. I just recently had a client worth over 100X that amount that I will

This is correct. Financially literacy for most people only goes so far as them knowing that paying their bills on time is good, and not doing it is bad. They don’t know or understand that paying on time on a 84 month loan is not as good as they think it is.

Presumably, someone who has better qualifications has some sense of financial awareness.

Just bought a car yesterday and the finance person made some huge assumptions before meeting with us. She had the paperwork drawn up with zero down and 72 and 84 month options with helpful breakdowns of monthly payments including all of the extended warranty and add ons they offer.
I told her we were doing 10k down

There is nothing technically wrong with catering to the lower end of the market, but the way they are doing it can only be described as predatory.

Lawrence, why are they making you do this? Is this some sort of hazing ritual? Are you being held hostage? Make a post without a slideshow for yes and a ten-page slideshow for no. Torch stood up to the powers that be; you can do it too! Just say no to slideshow!

I’m beating a dead horse here but this whole screenshot-comment slideshow-for-clicks format is pathetic.

Lawrence, can we get some pics of these trucks instead of just the commenters’ text?  Previous iterations of AOTD had them.

You know, there are some people who need a truck for their work, but also only want to have one vehicle to be able to use on the weekends/time off with their family.

Yes, because nobody uses them to tow boats, haul trailers, put shit in the back of that you wouldn’t want inside a car, carry construction tools and supplies, etc. I have an EV and a Tacoma and there are things I do that require a pickup. I’ll be switching it for an electric truck whenever a small and/or reasonably

One day the Kia Telluride will go in to mass production.

I’m guessing you don’t live anywhere near Texas, because I see Platinum and King Ranch F-150s and F-250s on the road every day, along with Laramie RAMs and whatever the high spec Chevy/GM is called.

I feel they need to be taught a lesson about customer service

That was my first reaction. When I did my ACH for my Tesla it was done via Plaid (a third party). Likely a payment processor screwup.

“There, Tesla employees instructed Slattery to contact his bank to reverse the charge — a plan Slattery found unacceptable as the bank informed him it could take up to 10 days to return the money to his account.”

Just because honda made a crappy hybrid doesnt mean that toyota the number one hybrid automaker will fail.  the CR-z mostly failed because gas prices started to fall by the time it’s release and also Honda’s hybrid tech at the time was crap. it could not move the vehicle under electric power alone it only offered

Toss the FA24, drop in the GR Yaris drivetrain, call it the GR4, profits.

They could try lifting it and putting some black plastic cladding on the wheel wells, I hear that’s pretty popular.
