I have to think Ford’s investment in Rivian is not just a whim and they’ve committed to leveraging Rivian’s technology at some point. I can see them holding back in terms of timing so as not to cannibalize Rivian’s launch (as a major investor).

If they come out with an EV version of this with at least 250 miles of range

Is pure profit your benchmark for success? Its easy to hide profit when you’re building giga-factories, multiple global manufacturing facilities and a nation wide infrastructure that only supports Tesla vehicles. Showing a huge “profit” at year end isn’t always the smart goal.

You mean like they turned a profit during Q1 2020? And Q4 of 2019? And Q3 of 2019... They almost did so in Q2 and had COVID not happened almost certainly would.

As easy as it is to hate Tesla you have to give the company credit. The Model S has been available since 2012. They now have 4 models with a few more on the way. All of those available now are selling well. But at the end of the day, despite starting out as a totally new and unheard of company with zero experience

Why would they want to do that?

The stock market is on crack right now, but TSLA stock is running down Wall Street naked, freebasing, with a needle in each arm. That’s talent.

Now imagine taking this through mud.

Also, doesn’t putting the motors in the wheels put them at greater risk of damage in an accident? I would assume that after the battery, the motors are one of the major cost items in an EV.

Don’t motors at the wheels mean high unsprung weight?

I really don’t care for this at all.

“This guy is a startlingly accurate Elon Musk knockoff/wannabe.”

Has he ever built an operable vehicle.  Has he ever founded a successful company?  How many astronauts have his companies shuttled to the ISS?

Man, he’s gonna be in for a shock when Bloomberg says “bring it, bitch.” He should’ve thought about the discovery process before trying to bully a reporter with a lawsuit threat.

Both of those had driveable prototypes though, with the actual representative hardware in it (they did acceleration runs during the unveiling and allowed people to ride inside while doing so).

He’ll get around to it.

He can be as upset as he wants, but that was 3-4 years ago and we still haven’t seen a moving prototype.

Trevor never was quite able to get a handle on the difference between “badass” and “dumbass”.

This guy is a startlingly accurate Elon Musk knockoff/wannabe. First he not-quite-ripped-off the name of Musk’s car company, and now he’s definitely-ripped-off his shitty attitude.

This may be the most severe case of “Musk-envy” I have ever seen!
