I loved Lawrence in the Hunger Games and Winter’s Bone, but her David O. Russell stuff is just not great. Mother! showed that the could be really effective with a good director, but I don’t trust Adam Mackay to rein her in.

I responded to “no one famous has ever been on this show.” I agree with your point.
Both Gladys Knight and Patti Labelle have been on this show.
Thank you for also finding Lauren incredibly annoying. I saw the actress give an interview and she talked about how before she takes a part, she asks herself if this story needed to be told. I wonder why she thought Lauren’s story needed to be told.
Doesn’t get worse than nominating Shelley Duvall for the Shining! Other very bad nominations include Jennifer Lawrence for Mother! and Dakota Johnson for 50 Shades of Grey (she knows exactly what type of movie she’s making.)
Don’t care about this show but just want to say that Parker Young was very good on Imposters.
The discussion around isn’t that different than it was at the time of her breakdown. Now it’s just condescending “she doesn’t know what she’s talking” instead of mocking “lol she’s nuts!” I’ve loved her and her music for years, she was incredibly important to be growing up. I’m honestly just sad for her, I hope that…
I hated how the documentary played the voicemail of someone pretending to be part of the conservatorship and then just had text saying it wasn’t verified. Why don’t you verify it before putting it in your documentary, New York Times???
Rewatched Promising Young Woman. I think it’s my favourite film of 2020. I’m confused by those who criticize the ending as some sort of copaganda. I don’t think that **spoilers** the cops arresting your killer because they find your body at his country house, and them only finding your body because you were smart…
Yes! Love that episode. The whole Janet/Raj/Yoga guy love triangle was boring, and then suddenly having her and Gerald have feelings for each other in the finale was so random. Also, Chelsea is just the most bizarrely written and performed character.
I think SC is better character development wise but KC is funnier on a more consistent level (and never had Roland, which is a virtue.) My main issue with KC is Janet, who I think hasn’t had a good storyline in years. However, both shows are better than Workin’ Moms, an absolutely abysmal show that is very praised…
Ya, I think the area where SC beats Kim’s Convenience is on character development. Can we really say anyone on KC has grown? Janet storylines are always the worst and has the worst supporting characters (Chelsea is bizarrely portrayed and written) and Jung is finally with Shannon but his character hasn’t developed…
Unless I’m mistaken, it was supposed to be 13 but ended up being 9 due to covid shutdowns.
I really hate the term wholesome to describe the shows mentioned above. It’s not technically wrong, but it makes them sound like Full House.
Definitely agreed about the lack of range. I think Annie Murphy is the real revelation from Schitt’s Creek.
I’m so interested in someone thinking that he was inscrutable on SC when I feel like he was ridiculously expressive, sometimes not so well (some of the broad comedy) but also pretty good (he’s a solid dramatic actor.)
Yes! Felt the same way about the Broadway sketch. Basically David in a bar.
He has some solid dramatic acting on the show, but boy can he go broad.
“From the Menendez brothers to the Williams sisters, should we write more? No just fix it in post” and “Daniella is more than just the girl version of Daniel.”
Agreed with most of what you write. I thought the first two were really funny and this was one was just ok! I will still watch it because of the Fey, Danson, and Hunter of it all but I hope it’ll get better.
