I agree. I was unimpressed with his original 8th Doctor in the movie, but ever since The Night of the Doctor, I’ve wanted them to make parallel spin-off with McGann’s 8th. They could use it as a way to introduce back story as needed. And the Time Wars are fertile ground for excellent exciting stories.
