I get that people who have read the comics for years are bummed, but the assumption that the comic has pretty much anything to do with the brand’s continued success is a little silly. If anything, the fact that Sega continued to let the comic run despite it being so drastically different from the games is the thing

Mid 30's here as well. Bought and read every issue up to around 200. Then I kinda stopped reading them. I still bought them though, was making money and since I owned every issue and spin off before wanted to just keep buying mainline series at the very least.

This is fascinating. Was not aware of any of this drama. What a total disaster and epic botch by Archie.

Legitimately brings tears to my eyes. A lot of fond memories sharing these stories with my brothers, including one we lost over 10 years ago. I can’t claim to have kept up with it, but I always loved their particular universe while I did follow it.

Yep I still have very fond memories of the Sonic Advance series.

Not surprised, but saddened that the Archie canon never got a moment in the video games spotlight via an official adaptation. Always preferred its world building and, of course, the supporting cast.

It’s a real disappointment that for a series that had developed such a deep lore, they didn’t get to do a proper finale. It would have been really nice to see the world that had developed through the Archie Comics come to a satisfying conclusion before pulling the plug unexpectedly.
