Or any DC comics reboot that really isn’t a reboot.
Or any DC comics reboot that really isn’t a reboot.
More and more hack-y and less and less worth reading as time and contributors go by.
Exactly! The series’ only real genuine bombs have been a few of the spin offs, the legendarily infamous Sonic ‘06 (which even us Sonic fans have no defense for, barring the soundtrack), exactly one-half of Sonic Unleashed, and the first Sonic Boom (the sequel fixed a lot of the problems but the damage was already…
I am now attempting a “wiki-catch up” and for a lack of better words, things got wacky.
It’s not poor sales. Sega has had to deal with two extremely annoying lawsuits from former Archie writers, made even more annoying by Archie not having proper paperwork that could have nipped it all in the bud. They’re cutting ties in order to avoid any other former creators getting the same idea.
This sucks. This really sucks.
Haha same here! Sonic and TMNT Advantures at the good o’ mom & pop grocery store, because my mind saw how those comics in the 1's where as Uncanny X-Men and Spider-man were in the 200s.
In fairness, the decay isn’t limited to James (and has been going strong since before the last days of Annalee).
I really want to know what kind of Sonic comics you’re reading.

And it had some great characters that I simply wanted more of, I wish the Saturday Morning cartoon had lasted a little longer.
I had a subscription to this comic early on, and while I had fallen out of it years ago, it was sort of comforting to know it was there.
I ran a shop for a 5 year span that ended—oh god, seven years ago? what the..how did I get so old?—and it was always a really high seller. We aimed to be especially kid friendly though.
I am slightly wistful. Somewhere in my parents’ house is a box with the first 40 or so issues, as well as all of the spinoff miniseries from the first few years. I have fond memories of that stuff. I got a copy of the first regular series issue as a gift on my 9th or 10th birthday and bought a subscription and copies…
Id perfer the rights go to boom studios or oni press. They also do some really great liscensed comics like invader zim and power rangers. I hear boom studios is getting rugrats next.
“and the fact that Sonic hasn’t had a majorly successful (or particularly well-received) video game for many of those 25 years makes it even more impressive.”
I remember reading the arc where sonic gets his dad back and defeats robotnik. and he’s just looking over the wasteland of what was and says to tails... dude, was this worth it? I think that was the first time i grasped an adult theme in a comic book.
Please let it be VIZ!
