The first season covers pretty much all of the novel. The last scene of season 1 is the last scene of the novel. There is no attempt whatsoever to explain the departure (and the book is better for it).

Halt and Catch Fire season 2 was a bigger improvement IMO. That's mostly because I actually really liked Leftovers season 1 and thought HaCF season 1 was OK at best.

Actually it's even worse than that, it got no reviews at all. Seriously, nobody ever reviewed her game. Throughout all of this, no one has ever been able to point to a single review of her game, let alone one by someone she was accused of sleeping with. A bunch of people were just told they should be angry at her…
