Ugh this tired trope comes up EVERY. SINGLE. TIME.

I’ve had SO many Mustangs over the years. . . .

Dude, it’s a relative term. My Fox notchback was a 4 cyl/4sp model where I swapped most everything mechanical from a wrecked GT except the body trim. I left all that on the wrecked carcass — including the 5.0 badges.

Solid platform? The fox body stangs were notorious for twisting so hard that they broke the seats. I had a 2.3L 89 Fox and it even happened to that one.

IIRC, that screw was typically black.

yup, the lx notch 5.0 was the choice of a discerning customer.

Son of a gun! If you go to the CL ad and click through, you’ll find another picture that shows enough of the passenger door that there, too, is a Phillips head screw.

Really?  That screw is legit?

There are three buyers for face-lifted Fox bodies. Those who want a GT, those who want a ragtop (they seem to not care if GT or LX), and those who want an LX. I have NEVER heard someone say they wanted an LX hatchback. They might settle for a hatchback, but yes the notchback is pretty much 100% preferred and carries a

These 5.0 notchbacks were quicker than their cosmetically dressed up GT cousins.

The problem is that this was the desirable version from a performance standpoint. And real Foxstang performance requires aftermarket power-adders. At this price, in this original condition, adding power will reduce the value, so if you want this for performance, you might as well get a molested version for less. Or

“The only noticeable issue in here is a Phillips head screw holding the window/lock switchplate down on the driver’s door. That seems an expedient solution to the panel coming loose, but not a particularly elegant one.”

10x? Sounds like you are the one hitting the pipe. Go find me a clean, 25k mile 5.0 manual for $2500. Please find me as many as you can, and I will buy all of them.

Actually, today this is the most coveted body style.

I’m going to go against the grain here. You may be able to find another 5.0 notchback for less. You may be able to find one nearly as clean, but it’s pretty damn unlikely that you’ll find one with lower miles. And today, some 30 years after these rolled off the line in Dearborn, you will never find one more original.

I think part of the problem is just like when Tesla decided to call their driving assistance system “Autopilot.” It is an autopilot in that it will follow directions and hit waypoints, but that doesn’t make it in any way an actual pilot.

Buy and sell them, don’t keep ones you don’t like.  Heck, I have 7 cars right now.

Do you stock food?  If so, please keep going to work.  I like food.

It’s a typical Erik shit-slinging article. I’m pretty sure they keep him around for the reactionary hate and interaction his articles draw because those articles sure-as-shit aren’t well thought out and reasoned.

Click baiting is the norm for Jalopnik.
