No refuge there — I have it on good authority that the content of many books is also fiction.

“Nicholas, the camera on your Blackberry is for shit! I can see nothing!”
“Well, can’t you zoom in?”
“You know very well it just makes the pixels bigger…”
“Just a second, I’ll try again.”
“…wasting my time like this, I swear to you…”
“Okay, how’s that?”
“IT IS WORSE.”

I’m imagining a meta-Homeland universe, now, where Nazir calls Brody up to pitch his latest scheme.  “All right, Nicolas, how’s this:  you must get a secret code from the vice president’s office so that I can give him a remote control pacemaker heart attack, or I will kill Carrie.”
“You haven’t lost me yet.”

It was ludicrous for Nazir to have all of those resources to begin with, and they’re basically a storytelling convenience that the characters aren’t allowed to notice.  Shouldn’t the surviving CIA characters have spent all of episode 7 shouting, “You have to be shitting me, where the fuck does Evil SWAT come from!?”

“Also, would it be harder to monitor his phone if it's over skype?”

I think I saw that possibility cross his mind, as Carrie ran off and Nazir asked for the number with increasing urgency.  “Yeah, I swore, but I don’t actually have to…”  And then he figures Carrie still needs to get away and Walden’s still a prick.

Not sure if it’s what you’re looking for, but he wasn’t the standard Mean Boss when Carrie showed up early for the debriefing.  I’m not saying that he was doing a good job of not hurting her feelings, but he obviously felt the need to make some really awkward excuses rather than just saying, “Yeah, this is Spy Club,

Maybe Walden’s pacemaker was a human interest detail in an article about him and how he finds time to stay fit in his demanding job as worst person on the show.  “I just come over here, give this thing a tweak, and then it’s on to my treadmill for half an hour while I take calls on speakerphone.  E-Z Heart.  American
