I making fun of the fact this aspires to be the world's wokest show yet it mocks the guy who asked for consent.

The reboot of Upstairs Downstairs was in the works before Downton Abbey but it was hampered by the ill health of both its creators, Eileen Atkins and Jean Marsh. Still the two seasons they managed to make are definitely worth the watch if only for seeing a younger Claire Foy do her usual fantastic job with a role.

Also, if you’re a gay business owner, you’re allow to run a super sexist business.

Yeah, they should have kept Chris Noth in the last episode. They already shot it, I assume he’d already been paid...was it really worth it to throw away what was probably something fairly poignant? It’s not like it was going to revive a career that seems to be on life support.

this last epidose all but took out a full-page ad begging Kim Cattrall to come back.

Idk why you’re confused. You made no mention of how different GP is from Downton in it’s pov regarding the English Upper Class. I did. So far Fellowes isn’t nearly as biting in his take on aristocrats in this series, but he’s perfectly capable of it. I do think you’re 100% right about Fellowes ripping off Edith

It’s not a work ethic, it’s a technique. People who don’t approach it this way (and I assure you most actors don’t) aren’t somehow lower on work ethic. (I mean, they might be, but not because of this!)

Thanks for your comment. Butler acknowledges this background history but complicates the traditional telling and retelling. After rehashing the story, he writes,

Interesting. Although no longer an official Downton prequel, that could at least echo the background story of the Crawley family being on the verge of financial ruin before Robert Crawley married American Cora Levinson for her money. Oscar van Rhijn would then be trying to be the Robert to Gladys Russell’s Cora.

Yup, he will be Thad Castle forever and I loved him in Titans! But Thad Castle fucking ruled!

Obviously haven’t read Butler’s book so I don’t know how he goes about parsing this, but there seems to me a huge difference between Method as it was developed - an approach to preparing for a performance and actually delivering it, which as this review describes split into the differing philosophies of Strasberg,

I think one shoe they’re planning to drop is how little money the Van Rhijns actually have. The show’s been clear that they (and everyone) have less money than the Russells. But we’ve seen a lot of hints that they’re hold on what they have is actually quite tenuous.

I love it thus far. Very much on the same vibe as Only Murders in the Building as was mentioned. And it’s hilarious that obviously-not-the-murderer Walt (who was definitely not in their class) is also only known as the mousetoothed date from Fleabag season 1.

I mean this takes place in the same universe as let’s say 21 jumstreet nothing actually has to make sense...

Also Michael B. Jordan was on the soap as well. I can tell that he would definitely do quite well.

We’ve had one every 5 years (class of ‘00), but it’s basically been everyone living in the area meeting at a local bar, almost like the night before Thanksgiving but organized. Our class had about 350 students and maybe a 1/4 are prevalent on social media so there are definitely people I'd ike to reconnect with. Hopefu

Based on the comments here it seems like I’m in the minority, but I’m loving it so far. Great cast, funny dialogue, and the mystery is pretty solid so far. And along with Only Murders In the Building, I like this sudden boom of comedic murder mystery television.

15-year reunions are a thing in film/tv because it’s old enough to have most of the characters personally (married/divorced/with kids) and professionally past the young-adult stage but young enough to cast actors the shallow producers/audience still think are hot.

Mine was organized by a guy who was popular in high school, complete loser after. He has had a string of failed businesses that have mainly failed because he’s convinced friends, family, or investors to give him money that he inevitably spends on himself (vacations, cars, etc). No idea how the dude hasn’t faced larger

Also, are 15 year high school reunions a thing? I thought we did 10 and then waited it out until 20 or 25.
