Agreed. I’m just pointing out that that’s not an indication that it’s a bad movie. People weren’t interested, at least not enough to go to a theater in the middle of a pandemic. If you didn’t see it, then you can’t say you didn’t like it.

It’s really up to gender norms in media. Women aren’t allowed to be horny, so the narrative often involves them being unfulfilled and needing a connection. Meanwhile men are seen as “just thinking with their dick” so their cheating is either for someone younger/prettier, or in callous disregard of their partner.

You really nailed this—Che is ridiculous, but they’re thinly written so you can’t blame them, it’s all on Miranda’s ridiculousness. And how does the show want us to react? Does it think we support all this? Or does it recognize she’s insane and there’s going to be some sort of reckoning?

I guess I was thinking back to how much of the parenting Magda handled in the original series. As a mom with a baby at the same time, I was so jealous for a Magda. Still, I felt like Miranda parented Brady enough to have more of a bond than “Meh, he has sex in our house now.” 

I wonder how many of the writers are parents. They seem very disinterested in stories with the kids. When Miranda saw Brady at a gay pride rally -- she literally hid from him for some reason. 

It fits just fine. I’m an atheist and I will occasionally shout out “Jesus Christ!” It’s just cathartic or emphatic swearing, with what is to me basically a set, idiomatic phrase. I am not invoking or swearing an oath to any deity.

Someone else pointed out (possibly on this very website - I don’t remember where I saw the remark) that there’s an odious double standard when it comes to cheating in movies: when a man cheats on his wife that’s inexcusable, but when a woman cheats on her husband it’s OK provided it’s with a woman/non-binary person…

He didn’t write or create this, just EP and some directing so you can’t lay it all on him. The Last Duel was more than competent too. Obviously it’s a safe bet than an 84 year old is on the decline but I’m not blaming any problems with this show on his age. 

it totally fits. Its just a figure of speech, im an atheist and i use it all the time, like “JFC!!”, etc. Plenty of people do.

Beginning to think I only really liked Kristen Bell on Veronica Mars. Please don’t tell me she was great on The Good Place. I did not care for that show.

I remember my dad saying roughly the same thing when is mom / my grandma died. She was our last grandparent of the four and I remember feeling that emptiness of a generation gone.

hopefully it will be allowed to grow to become a successful telenovela. I remember years ago when MyNetworkTV started off as having several adaptations of established telenovelas. Then they abandoned all of that for reruns of Dick Wolf-affiliated dramas. 

I for one am less offended by any of Speedy Gonzales alleged racist overtones than I am with the idea that people think he is the Mexican community's favorite cartoon character. When we all know that title belongs to El Pajaro Loco, aka Woody Woodpecker.

As I posted above it came into popular use (although it had been around a while) after the Pulse Nightclub when the community effected used it to describe themselves. Language evolves and changes, often to become more inclusive. “Cis” and “trans”…
