@5h17h34d: You can get an @live.com account and access it at live.mail.com if it makes you feel better. But regardless of good/bad reputation, the Hotmail name is too widely recognized to dump.

Adam,

Microsoft has already commented on your pipe dream. They intend to bring Kinect to your PC (your wallet willing) and even hope to bring it to the enterprise in 2011/12.

@kettlewhistle: Exactly! I tried to switch to Hotmail after the last major update, but couldn't swallow the idea of one-liners going out at the bottom of my email. If you haven't scoured the internet for info on every new feature coming next week (as I have), I think you have many other pleasant surprises ahead of

I'm completely stoked for the Hotmail overhaul coming on Tuesday. I'm ready to dump Gmail for this one. The Inside Windows Live blog just announced they're dropping taglines (ads) from outgoing mail. That was the tipping point for me and I've been waiting for them to announce this feature since the last major Hotmail

@Mickets: You're my favorite!!

@Mickets: YOU THINK YOU KNOW ME!?!?

@Mickets: What a world it would be if you had to qualify for feelings! I'd endeavor to coin the term "Jobsonian" to describe such a society— after the Great Dictator Steve Jobs, of course. But I think the term already refers to narcisistic cry baby executives.

@Mickets: 1) done. 2) pass. 3)pass. 4)pass. 5) everything. 6)pass.

@tomsomething: I think the page is outdated. Office 2010 beta users had limited access to Live Web Apps before office.live.com launched on Monday. Now that the site has launched, anyone with IE or Firefox can use the apps.

@geekening: Were you applying for the Gap? If yes, your story make complete sense.

@infmom: That was great! I'd hire you twice! ...but pay you half.

@SquareWheel: Good points. People(myself included) are just too resistive to change at times.

@yokocar: You can download any of the files on SkyDrive to your PC. I don't know if the option is available in the Web App menus yet. But there is a button to open the doc directly with Office.

@GlennA: I think waste of space is subjective. The ribbon takes up, what, vertical space equal to four lines of text ? On a netbook that might make a difference. Anywhere else calling it a waste of space feels a little like looking for reasons to nitpick.

@freakshowtime: Seconded. My first note was Yay!... then not so much.

@SquareWheel: Agreed. Compared to Google Docs' 98 style row of buttons, Web Apps looks and feels like a real program.
