The Navy’s main concern right now is biocorrosion. the inorganic non-biologically induced type of corrosion you are thinking of is easily mitigated with sacrificial zinc anodes and paint. I’m also the Ph.D. mentioned at the start of the article.

oh believe me, the Navy is VERY concerned with microbial corrosion. The Air Force solution of a hot box is just kinda cool.
