It's true that in the USA, white right-wing militants, cultists and racists, black militants, cultists and racists, Muslim militants and Communist militants all reliably vote Republican. (Or perhaps some of those should not count because they kill out of love?)

The one non-Democrat I voted for in the last election belonged to the Green party, but I didn't realize that a Republican vote is inherently a hate vote. I don't think any of my friends know, either. Thanks, I guess?

Does Gravity's Rainbow pick up in the end? Because yes, after loving most of the first half, there was a bit in the middle, post-war, where I thought it dragged, and I never got past that part.

The last person I paid to have my wife killed simply walked off with my money, and then the person I paid to have that person killed walked off with their money. I'm going to need some kind of governmental assurance that you will perform the service for which you have been remunerated, and if you cannot provide it, I

So with a big enough black hole, you can have severe time dilation without severe relativistic orbit decay?

Wow, that's pretty extreme. I think Thorne said (paraphrasing from poor memory) his job was to find the best, most scientifically plausible way to get from plot point A to plot point B. If the best still wasn't plausible, I imagine the best was what you got anyhow, but if it's clever enough, I can live with it anyway.

And in one sentence you've managed to sum up why I find his fanboys unbearable (even while I've enjoyed most of his films).

As I see it, Inception did have a point, closely related to that of Memento. Both movies present people lying to themselves to give false meaning and order to their lives. Inception expands in the other direction to suggest that seeking the big picture is not the solution, because there is always a bigger picture. So

You seem to be assuming it's the planet's own gravity that is causing the time dilation, instead of the planet being caught in the gravity well of a black hole/worm hole (decaying orbit or whatever excuse they come up with). The latter, and the idea that people could get there and survive, might be hard to swallow,

Oh God, now we're going to get the Apple fanboys showing up and saying Jobs never shoved a coin through the brain of anybody who didn't deserve it.

… and switch to a less than sign. Are you trying to make us fail our prealgebra quizzes tomorrow?

Can't I just carry around a spray bottle of dilute acid for routine operant conditioning tasks?

Don't be mad just because you got told by a slogan, you hater. But what that slogan tells me is that, as a life-choosing, optimistic person who loves McDonald's, I am better than you, and I agree.

The plank under the seaside stained glass window was put there for the kind of people who wanted to sing Thank You, O Lord, for the Pain of My Continued Existence in English.

Hickory Dikachu docks
the crabs ran up their &c.

I guess they will put seafood in the seafood dishes, which I think is a new idea for them.

Some people people thought 1/137 was exactly correct for a while. As with the others, it's a reference to a debate, not necessarily a correct answer.

I had read it, but posting source links is always helpful.

I have no problem with your generalizations, but speaking specifically: Pew is not a disreputable push-poller, and they didn't ask gross leading questions like your examples. You haven't made any reference to the white paper, so I trust you have no comment on this poll, but someone might get the impression that you

Your cursory glance was too cursory. Only Q81 was contingent on Q79b, because Q81 made no sense unless Q79b was answered in support of Sharia. Q92b was not contingent on anything.
