I know they’re paid a pittance, that’s why it seems like an outrageous amount since I also know it won’t be someone’s full time job for 8 years to restore a pair of slippers from the 1930s . The chemicals, antique materials and tools to repair these shoes, most of which is still available today won’t cost much either.

Not to be persnickety, but “accessory after the fact” is a real thing, and it tends to pull in people who would not sign up for the original crime but do aid the criminal after the fact for other reasons.

I disagree. KEEPING IN MIND that I am making no assumptions about your own history and ONLY reflecting my experience: as someone who was once victimized myself, I *absolutely* curse everyone who even smiled at my attackers when they KNEW. It was very much like being revictimized. They were just as bad.
