Maybe you should join a Lego group? I don’t know where you live, but here is the link to the Los Angeles group. Maybe it will lead you to one near you. Might be a good way to get more comfortable in a group of like-minded people doing an activity that you clearly love. http://www.lugola.org/

Hi Erehwonmai, this is a project I did as a gift for someone and it was so fun, satisfying and distracting. I thought of you and wondered if you might enjoy it too.. I don’t know if links work on here, but go to robotimeonline.com and click DIY dollhouse. I did the library room (Sam’s study). It was my Xmas gift for

OMG, ventilation. I made the mistake of trying to use paint thinner indoors this winter without opening any windows (duh!). I started to feel very ill before I realized I was basically asphyxiating myself. It was not pretty. I’m surprised I didn’t kill my poor cat.

The vw sets look so cute. I like the architecture series too. I’ve been watching Vikings, so I feel like I should break out my old castle lego and stage a raid :) building stuff is just so relaxing

It was kind of like a meditation.

I’m getting those for my nephew, he’s nuts about Legos!

I love lego! I came close to buying a set today, but I think I’ll pull out my block and build something I’ve already got. That ship in a bottle is so cool! WHat’s your favourite lego build?

It is, right? I was usually amazed at how time flew by working on a model. I also found after I had completed one and put it up on the shelf, I could go back days, weeks later and pick it up and replay the building process for that model in my head. It was kind of like a meditation.

After my mother died (many, many years ago), I started building some Star Wars models. I found the building and painting to be very soothing and therapeutic.

When I first started, the smell of the glue and paints would make me dizzy. Since I had about zero parental guidance, I had no clue about proper ventilation.

I love the Lego ship-in-a-bottle. Do you think kids have the patience to build models these days? I remember my brother and I doing it with my dad. So many tiny parts, such slow (and sticky) glue.

I have the Lego Saturn V rocket. It builds pretty quick if you can block out a few hours for it, but be warned: it’s big. It’s a little over three feet long once it’s built, and the top of my bookshelf was the only place I could find room for it.

I’m so relieved you are feeling better. I know I’m just a random internet person, but your sadness has concerned me over the last week.

Excellent. When I was a kid I got into models...cars, planes, whatever caught my fancy. Working with my hands distracted me from much of the ugliness around me and in me. As I got older, I transitioned into messing with computers. I also got pretty good at DIY home projects. Not only is it a good distraction, but it

I didn’t know they made a LEGO ship-in-a-bottle. That’s cute!

I can see why a bigot like you would be confused by this ...

I just listened to that podcast today. Always so great. My best thing is that I’ve come to the realization that this is the happiest I’ve ever been in a job before. My boss and coworkers are great, I’m learning lots, and I’m valued. Pretty satisfying.

Well this week has been a shit sandwich for everyone around me and for me to a lesser extent. My car broke down, my dad checked himself into a mental institution, my neighbor died after a brief battle with cancer, a good friend/coworker got laid off from her job, and now my dog is either mysteriously injured or going
