I <3 you. I just recommended that in a reply above. That film and its 1974 sequel are my favorite sword-fighting films of all time.

I just wanted to say — and in reply to this seems like as good a place to do it as any — that if we are including non-fantasy/sf movies... I recently rewatched the Gene Kelly "Three Musketeers" for the first time in absolutely forever, and DAMN but had I not remembered how utterly spectacular the fight choreography is

... Which is specifically discussed in the article?

What I get from this is, "the way to do this is to be SERIOUS about it". Ugh.

I wouldn't say you sounded too snarky. In fact I think that probably wasn't even the level of snarky this deserves.

You're right, it was kind of an amazing moment. The theater we were in was PACKED. The vocal reaction of an entire theater was a hell of a thing to be a part of.

Point. I had once heard that the Bellagio fountains use "grey-water", but trying to look that up, it seems not to be true. What I can find suggests that they don't get the water from the public supply (i.e. Lake Mead), but from a freshwater well on the property that had previously been drilled for a golf course.

The question is, at that point, how much of Lake Mead will be left? Just look at the level drop in the last decade alone.

What I don't quite understand about the "he hasn't earned it yet" reasoning is the inability to think of the title as the movie's main teaser. No, of course he isn't "John Carter of Mars" as the movie opens, the movie is ABOUT how he BECOMES "of Mars". So use that title to get people interested to see how he becomes

Completely agreed, the song itself was very well-suited to the movie.

Wait, I thought they DID use Puff Daddy's version? I must have heard that wrong. Which cover did they actually use?

That, and the CG kept hitting a lot of people's Uncanny Valley buttons.

Is it going to have Kevin McKidd and Sean Bean in flashy god-like Greek armor again? If so, sold me. I'm not proud.

I wanna see you acronym that puppy.

I think it's NOT supposed to be a training mission. I THINK it's suppose to be the classic "misunderstanding", when Thor first comes to Earth, and thinks these yahoos are messing with his brother (whose level of evil he doesn't, at the time, fully know).

See my reply to Caw_Miller above — the coyotes who are moving into the eastern U.S. are actually, by observation, at least in some cases moving into the empty wolf niche. Some are becoming pack hunters in order to take advantage of abundant prey such as whitetail deer. Heavier coyotes would be better equipped to

Actually — modern coyotes will shift between being pack hunters and solo hunters depending on what else is going on in their ecosystem.

According to the Mythbusters, who tried to replicate the conditions of the MacGyver pilot, it WAS bullshit... although the theory was sound. They just didn't use nearly enough sodium in the tv episode.

Actually, I think it's pretty widely accepted now that feathers have no relation to scales. The "hairs" actually resemble the "stage one" single filament form of the proto-feather, which the theories say are how feathers evolved in theropods and pterosaurs.
