The second one ends with Murtaugh straight up executing a bad guy trying to surrender to him. Not the action movie cliche “I’m going to pretend to surrender then try to kill you” literally the bad guy saying “I give up, please take me to jail, I’ll take my chances with the justice system” and Murtaugh shoots him in

My favourite part of the new Mission Impossible movies is watching Ving Rhames, who’s so out of shape he can barely stand up under his own power without getting winded, pretend to be a covert spy on the run from the government. Yes I know he’s the tech guy who typically sits in the van with the gear but there are

Yeah seriously, the clamato adds such a big punch of salt and umami that regular bloody’s are basically tasteless in comparison. All these other bloody mary hacks are trying to achieve the same thing without actually resorting to clam juice (which I agree sounds gross as a matter of principle).

I’ve read the Baroque Cycle twice.  The first book is by far the most challenging to get through, books two and three just fly by in comparison.

The best thing about Disney buying Star Wars has been the complete Schadenfreude of watching this content get produced. Disney is usually a well-oiled machine but they just keep dropping the ball over and over again when it comes to Star Wars. Really it seems like they wanted to get a ton of content out there as

What really jumped out at me was the reference to Animal House being made in 1978 but set in 1962 because in 2020 it seems bizarre to be nostalgic for the culture of 16 years ago. What would a movie set in 2002 even mine for nostalgia, references to Smashmouth and CRT monitors everywhere? How different must the late

Having seen both Mandy is much better.  They’re quite different though, if Nic Cage wasn’t in both no one would think to compare the two.

Nemesis was pretty terrible; I think it’s generally considered the worst of the TNG movies which is saying something as most of them are pretty bad. Just read the wikipedia page to get up to speed on the major plot points.

When I watch Discovery I just pretend it’s in the Kelvin timeline. I understand why they put it in the main timeline (people wouldn’t think it was a “real” Star Trek series) but everything about the show makes way more sense if you assume it’s in the alternate timeline.

But that was the agreement up-front; if they didn’t like that they should have booked somewhere else.

I don’t really think that would work. You gave them your credit card number so they could charge you if you didn’t show up and they charged you when you didn’t show up. Yes you tried to cancel but I think they can pretty easily argue that two-days notice wasn’t enough. Yes you had a good reason for wanting to cancel

I caught Rise of Skywalker this weekend and - hot take incoming - actually thought it was pretty good! I’ve never taken Star Wars that seriously - I’m not looking for it to be part of my identity or a lifelong obsession or whatever - and thought it was an enjoyable popcorn movie.

Wow I sure wish I could have IHOP quality eggs at home” said no one ever.  People already cook their eggs until they’re rubber, this is only going to make things worse.

“Wow this is a lot of money for one movie! Suckers!”

It’ll just be some disposable villian who spends the entire time chewing the scenery then dies at the end.  I can’t see Bale signing on for a role that could conceivably bring him back for multiple films.

>old patriarch suicide, holographic will giving everything to the maid, shitty extended family

I loved Kenneth Branagh’s take on the character but that movie was really held back by the source material as Murder on the Orient Express has been adapted, and ripped off, and reimagined so many times that the story has been beaten completely to death (much like Mr. Ratchett)I think what made Knives Out so

Just saw this one recently and it was really fun! However I’m convinced that Rian Johnson isn’t nearly as clever as he thinks he is and if he’s making a sequel I really hope there’s someone there to rein him in so he doesn’t go completely off the deep end.

Star for Orville Peck, that album has been my most pleasant music discovery this year.
