You really think that Tool album deserves to be on best-of lists? Maybe on metal exclusive ones but after the initial hype of “new tool music woooo!” wore off reactions were pretty tepid.

I’ve never understood the love for Skyfall. Yes that movie *looked* good but everything else about it was a fucking mess. The plot was nonsensical (and kind of derivative of several other recent action movies), Bardem looked bored and spent the entire time chewing the scenery while Craig joylessly trudged through the

Tarantino seems basically immune to criticism at this point in his career. He’s just coasting on his previous achievements knowing that no matter what he cranks out it will be hailed as a triumph.

US makes this list solely because Get Out was such a towering achievement that it would feel wrong to “snub” Jordan Peele’s follow-up film. It’s basically the stereotypical example of a sophomore film that’s an overwrought gangling mess that tries to do way too many things none of which are fully thought out.

Totally agree, the movie holds up amazingly well for something that’s now 45 years old.

This is part of why James Cameron is a genius - he wanted the T-1000 to look slightly unreal, it can blend in perfectly but there are times when the disguise slips and you’re reminded that it’s actually this impossible creature from an alien future who doesn’t look or move the way you would expect it to. The

Thank you! It’s so weirdly sexist that the ranking military officer of the entire resistance spends the whole movie wearing a princess ballgown for no reason. It’s especially glaring since the female resistance characters in TFA are all shown wearing standard military fatigues.

Unfortunately it’s much more likely that the rabid TLJ defenders will just dismiss Boyega and JJ as secret neckbeard incels or whatever. Reasonable discourse about this movie is straight impossible.

>I didn’t like that it sidelined every person of color (John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Kelly Marie Tran, Benicio del Toro) on a failed sidequest while the (white) heroes saved the day.

It always feels very attention seeking. “Oh no Jack Black, please don’t retire, whatever will the world do without your art!”

What a bizarre statement, the Matrix is objectively one of the most influential movies of the last 20 years. Has there been a movie that had a bigger cultural impact? Maybe Iron Man or the first Avengers movie but even that’s arguable.

I’ve often wondered what it would take for Salty to recommend tipping less than 20%. I remember one from way back where the server rolled their eyes at the guest’s grandmother (who from the story apparently hadn’t said anything offensive or rude) and Salty still recommended a 20% tip.

Agree with all of the takes here; Russian Doll got gradually less interesting as it went on and then just kind of fizzled out. At least it had an ending though! I recently watched Green Frontier on netflix which was excellent until the abrupt and ridiculous non-ending.

I’ve never really understood how Alan Moore can reconcile that. Dude has absolutely no problem doing whatever the hell he wants with other people’s characters without a single regard to what the original author would have wanted but screams bloody murder when anyone does the same thing to him. Maybe I’m thinking about

>I’m fairly certain I could have done as well for myself by shopping the dealers against each other

>Was it somebody who hopes Alberta secedes and joins the US?

Honestly one of my biggest complaints about The Last Jedi was how much they sidelined Finn and promoted Poe in his place. In The Force Awakens it felt like they established a clear trinity of Rey/Finn/Kylo with Poe very much a supporting character. Honestly it’s debatable whether Finn or Rey was the main protagonist

Yeah this, literally no one makes puff by hand unless they’re trying to prove a point or something. It’s not even that it’s technically difficult, it’s that it’s super labour intensive and takes all frigging day with the dough going in and out of the fridge constantly to stay cold.

Tattoo that should have been a t-shirt...

Not to blame the victims here but who signs up to work with Simon Cowell then acts surprised when they find out he’s a callous, boorish, asshole who promotes a toxic work environment?  Did they genuinely not know who he was?  Why take the job in the first place, for Union especially it’s not like she can’t get other
