The real problem is that the rules are written on the assumption that the officials will have some amount of discretion in their application and VAR is taking that away.

I live in British Columbia and have spent lots of time in the rural parts of it and, hate to break it to you, but that shit is only enjoyable if you’re super rich, or have a well paid job where you can work 100% remotely, or don’t mind being very poor.

People hated the prequels because they were terrible movies, not because they were childish. Revenge of the Sith was the first movie in the franchise to be rated higher than PG (it got PG-13) so I don’t really even know how you’re considering them childish pablum.

The Last Jedi and Rogue One had that effect on a large part of the fanbase. The attempts to make the franchise more serious and nuanced have just sucked all the fun out of it.  Critics like it but they also get free tickets.

I can’t say I’m surprised to hear about the classism issues as the premise really only works in a story about rich people. If the family was poor the sudden unexplained disappearance of one of the parents is a tragedy, not the premise for a kooky comedy.

Minor correction, his work has been all downhill since Jackie Brown. His first three movies were phenomenal, then he just disappeared up his own asshole. 

I don’t think the trailers did a very good job of selling this movie. I also haven’t read the book and know nothing about the story and all I got from the trailers was “Rich woman abandons her family. They can’t find her anywhere and don’t know if she’s alive or dead. It’s hilarious, trust us!”

Chappie certainly didn’t enjoy mainstream success but it’s considered a cult classic in certain circles.  

This 100%. Something like Hearthstone where you need to buy lootcrates in order to play the game is predatory. This is fine. The game is free and these items are purely cosmetic and provide absolutely zero benefit to players who buy them.
