The biggest challenge is that the main characters are different for each book, and only one or two characters from the previous book are in the next one (much like Becky Chambers’s Wayfarers series). My fear for the show is they would just keep the same characters each season.

“I don’t have the time to ‘git gud’”. Okay, I have a full time job, too. I have a life outside video games. And I know that it’s the kiddies driving the ‘git gud’ stuff, since they are the ones with the lightning reflexes and spare time to devote to gaming. But that’s not the game’s fault. Nor is it the game’s fault

Big and Bev from Reservation Dogs. I would’ve never thought of pairing them up, but Zahn McClernon and Jana Schmieding had such hilarious chemistry with their weirdo flirtations.

One of the things the game nails is the combat. They somehow made the game feel both real-time and turn-based simultaneously. Also, unlike the recent FF games, you can still control all of your party—in fact, the game actively encourages you to switch between party members often during each encounter. It’s really

One show that flew under the radar was I’m a Virgo, a show from Boots Riley that was just as insane as his film Sorry to Bother You.

Cid was really the only thing that kept me playing FFXVI. The combat got boring and repetitive real fast, but Cid was so good, I put up with it for him. Once he left the game, I only lasted a few more hours before quitting.

Yeah. If it’s any consolation, the game makes it pretty clear early on that he isn’t long for the world.

DoD wasn’t bad, but it was too damn long. They could have cut 40 minutes off and lose nothing. Instead, they would have a tight, solid 2-hour movie.

Have you seen Okja? The opening scenes are about as close to a live action Miyazaki film as you can get.

I never thought Nightcrawler and Eric Cartman would have something in common.

It’s one of the more annoying and hacky tropes of pop culture journalism: when the writer says The Thing. Kind of like how every article about Harry Potter never uses the word “people” to describe real people, but “muggles” instead.

That’s an easy one for me: Mega Man II. It’s my all time favorite. Some people prefer III, and I get it, but II just hits the spot for me.

If someone wants to shell out cash for character skins, so be it. But all I think when I see them is “there’s someone who pays cash for character skins”.

I love the chile pepper plates.

It certainly felt like the easiest 2D Mario to me. Even the hardest stages* took me no more than 5-6 tries before getting through it. In fact, the first three worlds were so stupidly easy I was getting disappointed in the game. Once I stopped looking for a challenge- and just enjoyed the ride, I started liking the

My personal favorite cover is TV on the Radio’s version of Mr. Grieves (The Pixies). They turn it into an a capella doo-wop spiritual. It’s so good.

I once heard a version of Heartbeats performed by an a capella boys choir. It was gorgeous.

and Down in the Park was on the same album as another amazing cover: William S Burroughs replacing Michael Stipe for a spoken-word version of Star Me Kitten.

Can I vote for Closing Time? It’s my favorite Cohen song, but the synths are so cheesy sounding. I could only imagine what Tom Waits could do with it.

The show is at its best when it focuses on its space program and was terrible when it’s a soap opera. Each season has leaned more heavily into soap opera territory and it suffered as a result. (Seriously, everything involving Danny was the absolute worst.)
